From Easter til May...

Hello! I'm way behind where I would like to be with my blogging and I have tons of pictures to share, so bear with me and feel free to not read everything. There isn't a ton of news to report from the Balzer household. We have been enjoying spring. With David's current job he is able to be home by 4:45-5:15 on most days so we have been going for lots of warm weather walks and love having that time as a family. Sometimes Sadie Beth enjoys the great outdoors, other times she naps. I love spending that time talking with David...about anything and everything.
Sometimes Sadie Beth is very serious when she plays with her toys...like it is her job or something. It's fun to watch her learn and play.
I've mentioned before that Sadie Beth has pack-n-play time almost everyday. It's funny because I think she sometimes is ready for a break from mommy and loves her
"Sadie Beth playtime." Here when I left her she was sitting up and when I came to get her she was "chilling out" like this.

We don't have a lot of pictures of Sadie Beth with my dad, but here was one day a while back. He had just shaved for the first time in awhile and I wanted to get a picture.

Don't you just want to eat her up? Often when I am nursing Sadie Beth before she goes to bed David is sitting at the computer. She loves to make eyes at her Daddy and smile at him during this time.
We have been going for lots of walks, and this day was particularly sunny so we got out her big pink hat to wear.

She's a bit of a ham sometimes.

Sadie Beth goes through "raspberry" phases, where she blows them all day long. This was a raspberry day. Today is a growling day. It's pretty funny too.

I think this must have been the first taste of sweet potatoes...one of the few foods she didn't act traumatized over after the initial introduction.
This is what we call the "Chubby-chub-chubchub" face. We make it regularly.

Isn't she funny? Is it any wonder that she makes me laugh all day long?
Yes, she is sitting naked on the kitchen floor. It was recently cleaned. This is when we were still putting bleach in her bath because of the staph infection and I couldn't hold her and do that at the same time.
Hysterical...
And slightly overdramatic....
But what she really means is...this was 30 seconds later.

If she's awake, she probably has something in her mouth. We aren't a big fan of teething in the Balzer household...she has 5 already, and we are working on 2 more.
We love our Wednesday "playgroups" with all of my mommy friends. It is such a nice break in the week to have some great fellowship with the girls and the babies are actually starting to have fun together too...until Sadie Beth decides to pull Amelia's hair, which isn't so much fun.
Baby Lily is worn out from all the excitement, and I think her big brother Henry was napping too at this point.
This was a different Wednesday...Annie is a good big sister to Amelia! It's hard to believe how big Sadie Beth is getting. I took this to compare to some really early changing table pictures from when she was first born.
We finally moved Sadie Beth's crib down a few weeks ago. She isn't pulling up yet, but I'm kindof thinking it won't be a gradual thing...that one day all of a sudden she is just going to become very mobile. :)
Just a pretty Sunday morning...
"Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see....." I think we've read this book probably 27 times this week. And I know this is just the beginning of reading the same book over and over, but it is AMAZING how much Sadie Beth loves this book. She knows when to turn the pages as we read too, which I think is pretty neat. A few days ago, she was having a fussy spell and David found that she stopped when he read this book...and not any other book...and as soon as he finished, she started up again. We've had a bit of a harder week...Sadie Beth has been teething and had a pretty bad sore throat (according to the doctor. It wasn't strep though - just a virus.
Peek-a-boo! No, Sadie Beth doesn't know how to play that game really yet, but she likes when I "peekaboo" from another room. She has been playing a lot outside of the kitchen while I work on dinner, making baby food, cleaning up, etc.
She LOVES drinking water out of her cup. And she loves to chew on her cup. She won't drink milk out of a bottle, but she will from her cup. Usually, she is a complete mess afterwards because the milk dribbles down all over her shirt, bib, etc.
We like to be silly. In fact, we are silly a lot. Sadie Beth is a pretty silly baby and makes us laugh ALL the time.

Not for the weak stomached....

As I mentioned in the "About Me" section to the right, this blog is the day to day story of our family...and for storytime today I will share with you a couple of the less appetizing events in our home over the last couple of days. I'll warn you -- if you are easily grossed out...please don't read any further...

Event #1 - "the shower monster" - I mentioned to David the other day that I thought the shower was draining more slowly than it used to. It makes sense that I noticed this and not David because his showers take so much less time than mine do. So, as the dutiful husband, he went and pried open the drain cover and a few seconds later I heard, "oh...my...gosh...this is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen." I have to admit, it's up there on my list as well. What is it, you may ask. Well, it's not a snake. It's not some unidentified creature. It's my hair...Needless to say, I noticed significant difference in the speed that the water drained during my next shower. Eww...yuck.
And how could you resist this beautiful, adorable face? She couldn't possibly be capable of anything gross, could she? Well, tonight I was getting ready to give her a bath and asked David to get her undressed for me. He took her into the living room and sat on the floor. They played there for a minute or two, David sliding Sadie Beth around on the floor. She likes that so it was fun. Then I heard another, "Oh oh oh...honey I need help...um, I have poop all over my hand!" I hadn't noticed that she had a dirty diaper. I had just checked her a few minutes earlier so hadn't really expected anything. This is what David found when he started to undress her for her bath!! It made it up to the tops of her should blades when all was said and done. And oh yes...it was on the carpet too.
Eww...yuck...again. We hadn't dealt with this for awhile...David's "fun" came back to get him.
So, there's the nitty, gritty, smelly details of a couple of exciting things from the Balzer household this week. Perhaps a bit too much information, but now you have...THE REST OF THE STORY.
