Sadie Beth is going to have a little............

SISTER!!!!! This is definitely "old" news by now, but for memory's sake...we are very excited that Baby Balzer #2 is another little girl. We had our ultrasound on July 1, 2009 - the very first possible day with our new insurance plan year. I didn't want to wait a second longer than I had to, and I hardly slept a wink the night before I was so excited. I have to admit, I was surprised because my guess was boy - this pregnancy has been so different, but I guess that just goes to show that all babies are different from the very beginning. We couldn't be happier!
Here is our sweet girls profile...
The ultrasound machine at my new OB/GYN is much higher tech than at my old doctor. This is when the ultrasound tech flipped it into 3D mode. You can see her nose and mouth pretty well.
She was very active throughout the whole ultrasound - good timing! She has both hands up and waving around below.
And in this picture our little acrobat is pretty much folded in half...with a leg way up in the air, arm wrapped around her leg. I love her sweet little ear!
"I'm a girl!!!"
We don't know Baby Sister's name yet, though it is narrowed down to a few possibilities...we are waiting for a name to "jump." I'm not sure whether we will make it public knowledge or not. I'm sure we will though because Sadie Beth won't be very good at keeping a secret...after all, any time we are out she announces "Baby Sister" to practically anyone she meets and attempts to show them my stomach...something NOONE wants to see. :)

Foot-phones, Father's Day, and other summer fun!

It took summer a little longer than usual to make it's Louisville debut. While we were waiting out the cool and rainy weather, one day I attempted Playdough with Sadie Beth for the first time. I think she had more fun chasing the cookie cutters around the floor after we put the Playdough away.
"If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile. If you like to waltz with potatoes, up and down the produce isle...have WE got a show for YOU!" Have I mentioned how in love with Veggie Tales my child is? Particularly the $0.25 Silly Songs with Larry video that we got her at a yard sale. She is feeling big lying on the couch here. This was when she was sicky-sick. Poor little thing had a high fever for over a week. We never did figure out what it was, but 3 antibiotics later we finally got it nipped. It was definitely a bacterial infection because her white blood cell count was REALLY elevated. My poor boobear.
She is ALL girl - loves to talk on the phone every chance she gets. She has a whole list of people that she "calls," usually in the same order each time.
Jumpy-bed, jumping bed! This is what Sadie Beth named the air mattress when Aunt Bridget spent the night with us in June. Bridget instantly became one of Sadie Beth's most favorite people in the world....seriously.
I believe Sadie Beth is getting her Veggie-groove on again in this picture...

Happy Daddy Day! David heard that about a hundred times on Father's Day...Sadie Beth was excited to give him his present, which is a really long story - one that I won't go into right now.
Anyone need to make a call? Sadie Beth can lend you her foot phone! She picks her foot up and says, "Hello?"
Lately I've been telling Sadie Beth to "Smile real big for Mommy" when I'm trying to take a picture of her, and this is what I've been getting more often than not. This sunkissed face is back fresh from the swimming pool.
Cookie Monster, check. Fishies, check. Icey cup, check. The perfect combo for post-nap Sesame Street. I wish that it was on at 4pm instead of 10am. Sometimes I record it for later.
During the summer, our Sunday school class has "dinners for six." David and I looked forward to our picnic in the park and meeting some new friends. Sadie Beth decided to make things interesting. She was too excited about swinging to eat, so all I was able to convince her to eat was some yogurt and blueberries....now that I look back it was a lot of blueberries I think. After she ate, David took her to swing. When they came back, Sadie Beth threw up all her yogurt and blueberries. Initially, of course, I was a very concerned mommy. My worry lessened, however, after she then declared "Mo swingin! Mo swingin pease!" She seemed completely fine so I decided to strip her down and let her run free - it was such a beautiful evening that we hated to leave and she had a blast for a while longer before we headed home. As you can see, not sick at all! I'm not sure what the other couples there thought about the whole ordeal, but they both have 3 kids each (all older than SB) so I'm sure they didn't think too badly of us.

My green thumbs!

Remember this lonely little flower?
Now look at my flower pots! The two bigger ones started with little tomato plants and the smaller ones were just seeds! And these pictures were even taken a couple of weeks ago. The smaller pots are blooming now with flowers. I'm so proud. :)
And I have tomatoes! You will notice that we caged in the tomatoes and some are actually starting to grow. One pot has five little tomatoes and the other has 2. I'm a little worried about them because some of the foliage is turning yellow. Hopefully they will hang in there!

Zoo faces...

We have a zoo-lover on our hands. Or more accurately, I should say, an elephant-show, monkey, gorilla, giraffe, zebra, and lemur lover - the rest isn't super important. Here are more pictures than I really should post of the first day that Sadie Beth got to watch the elephant show. She was enthralled.
They all laid down and Sadie Beth talked all day about how the elephants went "night-night."

I loved all these pictures of Sadie Beth and my handsome husband, so I just couldn't decide which to post.

This one is definitely my favorite! I love how into it she is...and she talked about it for weeks after.

To be honest, the show was very fun. David and I really enjoyed ourselves as well.

At the end the elephants waved, "Bye Bye!"
Someone else we know waved too!
And was all smiles that day.

When I was little, the zoo hosted elephant rides. Sadie Beth was happy to settle for less than the real deal.
My little baby isn't so much a baby anymore.
I think she just gets prettier every day. :)

I guess it's been awhile since Calvin came out, but here's a recent Calvin face that we got.
